Aston Hill Bike Park
Aston Hill Bike Park is a mountain bike venue situated just outside Wendover in Buckinghamshire, on one of the steeper slopes within the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty. The park features five graded downhill (DH) runs, a 4X track and a two-part cross-country (XC) loop. It has been said that the Hill has some of the best riding in the South East of England.
Aston Clinton House (also known as Green Park) was a large mansion to the southeast of the village, previously owned by the Rothschild Family. Now operated by The Adventure Learning Charity, Green Park is an 80-acre outdoor activity centre in Aston Clinton that is open to everybody. Their activity programme includes after-school and school holiday activity courses, fun day programmes as well as birthday parties. They have archery, mountain bikes, high ropes and climbing.
Aston Park is a large well-maintained playground with cafe, soft play, stream, skate park, playground and fitness trail.
A hidden treasure, this larger-than-average park is camouflaged from the busy main road by mature trees. Once inside, a secret paradise is to be found for walkers, joggers and those with other sporting and athletic interests including tennis, bowls and outdoor circuit training.
Park benches are provided at regular intervals for spectators and the less active. They can enjoy the view of the Chiltern Hills, while to the perimeter the cows feast in the lush green field. Adjacent are the grounds of the Green Park activity centre and its camp area, and a river runs along the far edge, displaying signs of revitalisation as a restoration project redirects its course. Newly planted black poplar trees enhance the area.
This ideal family spot includes a cafe offering a full range of food and beverages, a social gathering point and a respite from inclement weather. As the Chilterns face the impacts of new development and increasing population, Aston Clinton Park provides a rare amenity – a rural oasis amid the suburban bustle.
Chiltern Forest Golf Club
Chiltern Forest is a wonderful parkland course with breathtaking views. The holes spread across the hills and vales, threading through the trees, each one a unique experience. Chiltern Forest Golf Club has some of the best golf club facilities in Buckinghamshire with a fully equipped shop, renowned restaurant and bar as well as function rooms for hire.
Aston Park Tennis Club is a friendly village LTA-accredited club located in Aston Park. The club has three floodlit hard courts and a clubhouse and is a two-minute walk from parking facilities and the popular Cafe in the Park. The courts themselves are surrounded by well-maintained parkland. They cater for all levels of players and encourage members to participate in men’s, women’s and mixed competitive doubles matches.
The Club caters for both beginners and experienced players with three qualified coaches. They fulfil a programme of friendly matches with neighbouring clubs, both at weekends and weekdays from April to September each year. Members can elect to play in these matches, Club competitions or ‘roll-ups’ entirely at their choosing. Experienced players can represent the Club in competitions organised by the county.
